Cardrona's recipe for a good season is a high mountain, good southerly aspect and natural snow. Cardrona's international standard base facilities include accommodation, bar, café and licensed childcare. They complement a wide mountain which offers brilliant learner terrain, purpose built snowboard parks and pipes and a variety of slopes that suit familes and friends of all levels.

A big mountain makes room for everyone. Three wide basins covered in snow, create unlimited trails. The first basin has cruising runs to build confidence. The steep second basin - Arcadia - is the home of the New Zealand Freeskiing and Boarding Championships. The third large basin is Captains where you can slice apart the corduroy. 320 hectares of snow covered fun.

Home of the Boarder

Cardrona's support for snowboarding is recognised as legendary. Consider the development centre full of New Zealand's top riders, a calendar of events including the New Zealand Nationals, the combo terrain park and boardercross course, and of course the halfpipes.

Cardrona offers 4 halfpipes, all serviced by the Kassbohrer Pipe Master. Don't forget the Halfpipe Camps running throughout the season for all levels of riders. When it comes to snowboarding, Cardrona is, and always has been - home of the boarder!

Development Centre

An improvement centre for alpine sports dedicated to upholding Cardrona's reputation as the finest learning resort in New Zealand. All of us have skills and talents for skiing and snowboarding that we'd like to develop - whether you'd like to improve your style and technique or whether you'd prefer tips 'n turns with a lot of mileage. Come and be surprised by how much you can improve.

It's great to be a kid at Cardrona

Cardona Alpine Resort leads the way in child-friendly ski areas with the country’s most comprehensive Children’s Alpine Centre. Cardrona has facilities for children aged 3 months to 12 years.

The Kids’ Korral is a licensed and chartered early childhood centre catering for babies and toddlers (3 months - 3 years).

Ski Korral, is for 3-5 year, and offers a Child’s Play programme which introduces the children to the delights of the snow under the expert supervision of specially trained instructors.

Kids’ Club is for 5-12 year olds. Children enjoy all-day instruction out on the mountain and lunch back at the Kids’ Club.

Children can also take part in the 4 day Skiwees and Lowriders (for young snowboarders) programmes. Starting each Monday, Skiwees and Lowriders features lessons and lunch.

Snowmaking Investment 2006

In 2006 Cardrona Alpine Resort is investing approximately $2m in snow making and grooming equipment to supplement its large amount of natural snow with man made snow. The snowmaking equipment will ensure that key trails, rails, jumps and half pipes open at the start of the season.

Visitors can now buy their season pass or book their holiday at Cardrona secure in the knowledge they will have those fantastic trails and parks operational when they arrive, including the first and last few weeks of the season.
