Brilliant upper slopes, ski touring, snowboarding and the sunny aspect means Temple Basin can have great snow when other South Island ski areas are barely covered.
Temple Basin Ski Area is 4 kilometres west of Arthur's Pass in the middle of one of New Zealand's most spectacular national parks. To reach the field there is a 40-60 minute walk (a free goods lift is provided).
Temple Basin is a club field with onfield accommodation in two modern lodges. A good reason to stay at the lodge, is night skiing. There a special overnight packages available (includes meals, accommodation, and two-day lift pass). You must book in advance. There is no guarantee of accommodation availability.
Temple Basin is one of the top snowboard areas in New Zealand. It was voted NZ's top snowboard area by a NZ Snowboard Association/NZ Skiing Times survey.
